We love our volunteers! Without you our community vacation bible school would never happen. This year Norman Davenport Parish will be in charge of leading Imagination Station (crafts) for both pre-K and elementary students as well as the KidVid Cinema (movie) for the elementary kids. Our very own Pastor Laura will be working together with Pastor Beth from Caanan Moravian Church to lead the Bible Story stations. (Thank you ladies!) We will also need help in the kitchen and will need group leaders for pre-K and elementary kids.
Vacation Bible School will again be free and open to all students entering grades pre-K through 5th grade. If anyone is interested in offering a monetary or in-kind donation of food or craft supplies to help support our community VBS, please direct those gifts to Pastor Laura. We will have more specifics regarding what food and supplies are needed closer to the dates of the event.
Everyone is invited to a short program on the last evening of VBS where the kids will be singing and treats will be served outside.
If you have any questions please contact Pastor Laura or Diane Kjelstrup.
Please let us know if you are able to volunteer with any of the following areas and which nights you would be available.

WOM’s Spiritual Enrichment Committee invites you to join them in gathering and starting your day with God a few times throughout the summer. We will gather at Norman Lutheran from 6:00-6:30am on Wednesday, June 14, July 12, and August 16 for coffee, scripture and prayer as a way to ground ourselves in the middle of each month, and start our day with God and in fellowship with one another. All are welcome! Questions? Ask Pastor Laura, Deb Olson, or Kim Lammers.
Norman-Davenport has been asked to sponsor, and Davenport Lutheran has been asked to host, for the EaND Synod’s bicyclists on June 23 for the ELCA World Hunger Bike Ride! The bicyclists will arrive at Davenport around 5 pm for supper the evening of the 23rd to share a meal with us along with a powerpoint presentation to talk about the goals for the ELCA World Hunger initiative. A sign-up sheet will be in the narthex at Davenport to provide food and/or help serve the meal on the 23rd. The parish will also be collecting donations to support this event, the bicyclists, and ELCA World Hunger, which can be given to Pastor Laura.

The subject of the monthly alternating of parish worship times was discussed at the last parish council meeting. The parish council would love the input of both congregations on the idea of, as a trial, not alternating worship times from September-December 2017. The idea is that not alternating every month is more welcoming to visitors, and even for members, in knowing when each church’s service will take place. In order to continue to be fair in terms of early vs. late worship, the council is considering alternating the times every year. However, in order to see how each congregation feels about a set time, the council’s thought is to have set worship times for both congregations for the months of September through December 2017, and then discussing how it went at the Annual Meeting in January to determine if the congregations wish to continue with the change. Please talk with your respective council members or Pastor Laura and share any questions, concerns, or feedback regarding this idea.
