Notice of Special Meeting

Special Meeting – December 7, 2014 - calling of Pastor Dana Steinwand to serve as Parish pastor

Purpose:The Norman – Davenport Pastor Call Committee has made the recommendation to the Parish Council that Pastor Dana Steinwand be called to service as Parish pastor. Each of the Norman – Davenport Parish congregations are to be assembled to vote to approve this recommendation.
Two written ballot issues are to be considered.
Ballot 1:Approval for the Parish council to “call” Pastor Dana Steinwand to serve as pastor of the Norman – Davenport Parish.Voting YES indicates that you approve to call Pastor Steinwand to serve as our pastor.
Ballot 2:Approval for the Parish council to offer a compensation package as outlined below.Voting YES indicates acceptance of the compensation package as presented below.
Base Salary is $30,250 (this is below the Synod’s recommended base salary of $37,750) Housing equity of $9,075 (per Synod recommendation)Medical and Dental will be a policy…

Christmas Program Planning Meeting

A meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3 at 6:30 pm at the Davenport Community Center.

Christms Program Practice and Choir Practice

Choir practice for the Christmas program will be held as follows at the Davenport church:
December 7 - 6:30 pm
December 13 - 9:45 am
December 14 - 9:45 am

Christmas Program practice will be held as follows:
December 7 - 9:45-10:45 am, Davenport church
The following practices will both be at the Community Center.
December 13 - 9:30 - 11:30 am - dress rehearsal,
December 14 - 9:45-10:45 am - dress rehearsal

Council Meetings

The next Parish council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3 at 7:00 pm at Davenport Lutheran. Individual church councils will meet immediately following.

Norman WOM Group December Activity

The group's first event will be a painting party held on December 10 at 6:30 at the church. Contact Nicole Rohrbeck for more information. We are looking forward to an evening of fun and fellowship!

KAMA Christmas Baskets

The Kindred Area Ministerial Association (KAMA) will be putting together Christmas baskets. Davenport is asked to bring 25-30 cans of peas. Norman is asked to bring 25-30 cans of cranberries. Please have your items to the church by Sunday, December 14.

Community Thanksgiving Service

Davenport Lutheran will be hosting this year's Kindred Community Thanksgiving service. It will be held on Wednesday, November 26 at 7:00 pm. Father Jared Kadlec will be preaching. Hope to see you all there!

Thankoffering Sunday

This year's Thankoffering Sunday is November 23. The special offering will go to the NDSU Lutheran Center. Children can bring a canned food item which will go to the Kindred Community Food Pantry.

Snack Bag Donations Due Nov. 16

The parish Sunday School will be filling snack bags for Churches United for the Homeless again in November. If you'd like to donate snack items (cereal, pretzels, nuts, dried fruit, etc.), please bring your item to the church by next Sunday, November 16.

Norman Building Update

For anyone interested, there will be a building update / information meeting next Sunday, November 16 following the worship service. Our plan is to have an update meeting every third Sunday each month going forward.  We want to make sure people have an opportunity to stay informed about the progress.
